The event, Basketball for Christ, was my first memory of YFC because that year, the YFC America brought their basketball team to Taiwan and it left a deep impression on me. From someone who knew nothing of the ministry of YFC to knowing about it and deciding to be part of it, I can say that this is an important part of my life. Although I did not serve very long at the ministry, by the miraculous guidance of our Lord; coming to know of the ministry in Taiwan, going to Singapore and learning about evangelistic work from the staff and finally, back to Malaysia to begin the youth evangelism.

We all have different stages in life and at these stages we may face crossroads, periods of waiting or preparation. In June 1997, I made one such decision to join the Taiwan YFC. From 1999, Singapore had sent 3 staff, one after another to help assist and guide the setting up of the Taiwan evangelistic work. There were also missionary teams (from Singapore and Malaysia) who also came to support and taught us many things about evangelism.  You can see their love for the souls of the youths and their commitment and love to God.

The first half of 2001 was the start of training the volunteers on how to share the gospel but by the second half of that year, it saw the end of the whole youth evangelism ministry. At that time, I felt exhausted, as if I was a dove whose wings have been weakened and was unable to fly anymore, and can find no place to rest. Like it is written in Genesis 8:9, “But the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him.” I felt exactly as this dove felt! There were countless nights where I would ask God: “Are you playing a joke on me?” My heart was filled with a lot of questions, worries, sadness and a great sense of loss. But I thank the Lord for He used a beautiful way of healing my scars, and that is through His word. Now it is as if I am that dove who returns to the ark, tired and frustrated, but now I rest in my Lord’s hands. I have been invited back into the ark, protected and encouraged once again, waiting for another opportunity to fly.

From 2002 to 2005, the Lord gave me an opportunity to fly to Malaysia. This taught me how to bravely step out to face the challenges on this road filled with uncertainties and to continue working with youths to discover the ‘unknowns’ in our faith. The days in Malaysia were like those described by Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:10, “as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.” In 2018 when I was at a low point in life, the Lord allowed me to see something miraculous. On August 19, a staff from the ministry stumbled across a video on Facebook of Rosen Roy, who accepted a magazine interview with Southern Bell (a Chinese magazine). In this interview, he mentioned that someone from Taiwan shared the gospel with him and mentioned one of the gospel link (using a survey form and asking if there was a friend who would be willing to lay down his life for you). This piqued my interest and I did a bit of investigation. I found out that this magician was someone I had shared the gospel to in November 2003! He said: “… I want to thank you for sharing the gospel to me, your attitude and guidance has been an important part of my testimony and it is also the reason I came to know Christ!” God gave me such a wonderful gift! I was on the verge of being discouraged and He came to light my fire again. From an interview on Facebook, it gave me another opportunity to go to Malaysia again and from 8 November to 3 December 2018, I visited different churches and served in evangelistic work. I also got to experience the sweetness and joy of ministry again, to care for people, to bless and pray for those in need, and more importantly, to continue to preach Christ and bear witness to the Lord!

Rosen Roy came to Taiwan

“The greatest miracle is one’s salvation!” Do you agree? After 16 years, I see how the Lord has lead me, from Taiwan to Malaysia and now this year (2019), a seed that was planted years ago in Rosen Roy’s heart has lead him to share the gospel to the people in Taiwan. This has greatly encouraged me to continue on this journey! All praise to a loving Father, for allowing people to know Him and repent, and for giving us the opportunity to share the gospel to those who have not heard it.

Let us join in the Lord’s field today!
